EMISSIONS CONTROL SYSTEM
INFORMATION
e emission control system information for all engines having the ECI
label are as follows: positive crankcase ventilation (PCV), sequential
multiport fuel injection (SFI), three-way catalytic converter (TWC), heated
oxygen sensors (HO2S), naturally aspirated (NAT), On-Board Diagnostics
Marine (OBD-M), low-permeation fuel line (HOSE), electronic throttle
control (ETC) and electronic engine control (electronic EC).
STAR LABEL
Beginning January 1, 2009, any boat sold or registered in California must
have a Star Label axed to the port side of the hull either forward or a of
the vessel registration as shown in the following illustration.
A Star Label is also placed on the intake manifold plenum of each certied
Ilmor Marine, LLC, engine. A conventional power (373 kW / 500 bhp
or less) Ilmor Marine MV8 engine has a Four Star - Super Ultra Low
Emission rating. is indicates that the engine has 90% lower emissions
than One Star - Low Emission engines. e Four Star Label identies
the engine as meeting the California Air Resources Board’s sterndrive/
inboard marine Tier 4 engine exhaust emission standards. A high-
performance (>373 kW / 500 bhp) Ilmor Marine MV8 engine has a ree
Star - Ultra Low Emission rating. is indicates that the engine has 65%
lower emissions than One Star - Low Emission engines. e ree Star
Label identies the engine as meeting the California Air Resources Board’s
sterndrive/inboard marine Tier 3 engine exhaust emission standards.
