Materials to be avoided
Plastic wrap Use microwave-safe only. Use to cover food during
cooking to retain moisture. Do not let plastic wrap touch
food.
Thermometers Use only those labeled “microwave safe” and follow all
directions. Check the food in several places.
Conventional thermometers can be used on microwaved
food after the food has been removed from your
microwave.
Wax paper Use as a cover to prevent splattering and retain moisture.

Containers such as margarine tubs can melt in your
microwave.
Wood Wood dries out when used in your microwave and may
split or crack.
