Do you have a question about the Intellian s130N and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The Intellian s130N WorldView™ is a digital marine satellite antenna system designed for worldwide Ku-band satellite reception, including DIRECTV® services, providing seamless and uninterrupted satellite TV. This dual-band, 3-axis marine satellite antenna system can receive two Ka-band satellite signals and one Ku-band signal for DIRECTV® North American programming simultaneously. It features an Intellian Ku and Ka-band WorldView™ Trio LNB™ with a triple feed horn, which automatically switches frequency based on the antenna's operating region. All Intellian antenna systems are built and tested to meet industry standards for vibration and shock in nominal weather conditions.

Key Features:

  • Simultaneous Reception of DIRECTV® Ka and Ku-band: The antenna incorporates three feed horns to simultaneously receive three satellites: two DIRECTV® 99º and 103º Ka-band satellites, and one DIRECTV® 101º Ku-band satellite. This allows viewers to watch all DIRECTV® channels without switching satellites.
  • User-Friendly Five Cable Configuration: Designed for global TVRO installers and engineers, it uses a five-cable configuration: four independent RF cables connect the Worldview™ LNB to the multi-switch, and one power cable connects to the ACU.
  • All New Hardware & Standardized Modular Components: The system features new hardware and a pedestal based on Intellian's VSAT terminals, utilizing modular components like dynamic motor brakes with integrated encoders, a Main Control Unit, and a skew assembly. This modularity reduces the number of spare parts needed across Intellian’s TVRO antenna line.
  • Hands-Free WorldView™ Trio LNB: The built-in Worldview™ Trio LNB module automatically switches to the correct polarization and local frequency to receive the target satellite signal, eliminating the need for manual LNB switching.
  • Unlimited Azimuth Range: This Intellian-exclusive feature allows the system to operate with an unlimited azimuth rotation, preventing cable issues such as disconnection, cutting, or wrapping.
  • DVB-S2 Digital TV Receptions: The s130N supports DVB-S2 transmission formats, enabling reception of HD TV services at sea.
  • 19-inch Rack-mount Type ACU (Antenna Control Unit): The Intellian s130N ACU comes with a pre-programmed global satellite library and powers the antenna. It displays detailed information and satellite changes on an OLED display on its front panel.
  • Multi-Switch Module (MSM): The Intellian multi-switch module provides built-in SWM and standard multi-switch outputs, allowing configuration with both DIRECTV and standard satellite receivers. This reduces the need for additional hardware and system reconfiguration for multiple TV screens.
  • AptusNTV Wireless Connectivity: Intellian's integrated M&C platform, AptusNTV, offers a responsive web user interface. Its Installation Wizard automates antenna system configuration, minimizing operator effort during installation and operation. Any wireless device (PC, laptop, smartphone) can connect to the ACU to manage and control the antenna system.

Usage Features:

  • Installation Planning: Requires careful site selection to minimize satellite blockage (clear view of horizon, no obstacles within EL range -15° to +115°) and avoid RF interference (at least 15 feet (4.6 m) away from high-power shortwave radar).
  • Mounting: Uses a supplied template for drilling mounting holes on the mast. The mast must be robust to prevent flex and vibration. A crane is recommended for lifting the ADU.
  • Cable Routing: Cables should be routed from the antenna through the ship to the ACU, avoiding sharp bends and kinking. Watertight fittings are essential to prevent water entry.
  • BDU Installation: The ACU and MSM should be installed below deck in a dry, cool, and ventilated area, with front panels easily accessible. They can be rack-mounted in a 19" rack.
  • System Configuration: Supports both single and dual antenna system configurations (dual system requires a separate TVRO Mediator).
  • ACU to PC Communication: Can be established via TCP/IP (Ethernet), USB, or Wi-Fi. The AptusNTV web interface is accessed via IP address (default: 192.168.2.1).
  • Install Wizard: Guides users through antenna system commissioning, including GPS setup, heading device configuration, satellite selection, bow offset adjustment, and blockage zone settings.
  • ACU Operation: Features an OLED display with menus for startup, satellite information, interface information, antenna information, and diagnosis. Touch keys allow navigation and selection.
  • AptusNTV Web Interface: Provides remote monitoring, control, and diagnosis, allowing firmware upgrades, tracking parameter resets, and system issue diagnosis from any wireless device. User access levels (Admin, Operator, User) protect system operation.
  • Dashboard: Offers quick monitoring of antenna status with customizable panels for various information displays. Shortcut buttons provide access to detailed settings.
  • Setup Menu: Allows configuration of ship information (GPS, Heading, Bow Offset, Blockage), antenna settings (position, search parameters, conical range, tilt sensor bias, idle mode), satellite sets, network settings (management port, Ethernet port), and Wi-Fi settings.
