1. FRONT PANEL
1. 48V PHANTOM POWER
This provides +48V phantom power to XLR input.
DO NOT use unbalanced sources with the phantom power
switched on. The voltage on pins 2 & 3 of the XLR connector
may cause serious damage.
Please make sure the fader is at the position before
switching phantom power on or off to avoid loud pops
through the sound system loudspeakers (the “pop” sound
may damage the loudspeaker system components).
2. -26dB PAD
Reduces input level at both the jack and XLR sockets by 26dB.
This control helps prevent high-level source signals from
overloading the input preamplifier circuit.
3. GAIN
The input signal’s gain is continuously variable from +16dB to
+60dB (-10dB to +34dB with the pad enabled). The actual
value of the gain required will depend upon the source and
should ideally be set such that peaks in level on the input
should not cause the input amplifier to overload.
If the peak level indicator LED located near the channel fader
flashes frequently (or is constantly illuminated), the gain is set
too high. An optimal setting for the gain control is indicated
by the +12 indicator LED flashing occasionally with normal
program material.
4. POLARITY REVERSE
Reverses input signal’s phase, or more accurately, polarity. This
function is commonly needed where two microphones are used
facing each other (for example when using a microphone on
both the top and bottom of a snare drum). There are no hard
and fast rules on this, but give it a whirl and let your ears decide.
5. HPF
The 12dB/octave High-Pass Filter is a useful tool in combating
undesirable low frequency content, such as microphone
handling noise, wind noise, or bass build-up on stage. The
FREQ control varies the cut-off frequency from 20-400Hz. The IN switch inserts the HPF into the signal path.
6. EQUALIZER
Mixer’s equalizer is a 4-band Baxandall type. LF and HF bands are shelving response, with fixed frequencies
of 80Hz and 12kHz respectively. Its two bell-response MID bands are semi-parametric, meaning that the
center frequency of the curve can be varied. The IN switch inserts all four bands into the signal path, which is
useful when checking the effectiveness of your EQ settings
