NOTICE
Do NOT touch circuit board components, contact can create a static discharge, which can damage these electronic components.
Disconnect power at the circuit breaker(s) or disconnect switch(es) before installing or servicing.
More than one circuit breaker or disconnect switch may be required to de-energize the equipment before servicing.
For plastic enclosures, bonding between conduit connections is not automatic and must be provided as part of the installation.
Installation and/or wiring must be in accordance with National and Local Electrical Code requirements.
Use #14-#8 AWG wires, rated at least 105°C - COPPER conductors ONLY.
If the power disconnect point is out of sight, lock it in the OFF position and tag it to prevent unexpected application power.
Make sure there is no wire insulation under the terminal plate on the time switch connector. Firmly tighten terminal screws.
For outdoor locations or wet locations (rain-tight), conduit hubs that comply with requirements of the UL514B (standard for fitting conduit and
outlet boxes) are to be used.
Do not remove insulator that is covering terminals.
Do NOT exceed maximum current carrying capacity.
KEEP DOOR CLOSED AT ALL TIMES when not servicing.

Overview

The Intermatic ET2845 is an Electronic 4-Circuit Astronomic 365/7-Day Time Switch designed for automatic control of electrical loads based on a weekly schedule, with a 100-hour supercapacitor backup. This device is available in three models: ET2845C (Type 1 indoor lockable metal enclosure), ET2845CR (Rainproof Type 3R indoor/outdoor lockable metal enclosure), and ET2845CP (Rainproof Type 3R indoor/outdoor lockable plastic enclosure).

Function Description:

The ET2845 time switch automatically switches loads according to a programmed weekly schedule. It supports up to 48 fixed ON and 48 fixed OFF events (96 total), and up to 8 Astronomic (Astro) events. Each fixed event can be applied to any combination of circuits and days. The astronomic feature provides a sunset ON event and a sunup OFF event for each circuit, which automatically adjust to the actual changes in sunset and sunup times based on the geographical location (astro zone) set in the device. Users can also configure offset times for sunup and sunset events, allowing circuits to turn on or off either before or after the actual astronomic times.

The device offers three output configurations:

  • SIM (Simultaneously): Controls multiple loads at once.
  • IND (Independently): Controls loads individually.
  • PUL (Pulse): Provides a 2-second pulse. In PUL mode, an ON event or manual override causes circuit #1 to turn ON for two seconds, then OFF. An OFF event or manual override causes circuit #2 to turn ON for two seconds, then OFF.

The time switch features an LCD and panel-mounted control buttons for setup, review, and monitoring. Functions include setting date and time, schedule creation, enabling/disabling Daylight Saving Time (DST), and configuring DST switchover dates. The device can operate in three modes: AUTO, ENERGY SAVER, or MANUAL. MANUAL mode is only available if no scheduled events are programmed. If left inactive for five minutes in a programming mode, it will return to the AUTO mode screen.

  • USB Memory Stick Functionality: The time switch can read and write program data (event schedules, holidays, output configuration, DST settings, geographical location) to/from a USB memory stick. This allows for easy transfer of programming between devices. Error codes are displayed for USB-related issues (e.g., write protection, full stick, incompatible format, defective device).
  • Event Deletion: Individual Astro or fixed events can be deleted by navigating to the event and simultaneously pressing the '+' and '-' buttons.
  • Memory Clearing: A "Clear Time Switch Memory" operation resets all programmed settings to factory defaults. This is performed by pressing and holding ENTER/NEXT while pressing and releasing the RESET button.

Maintenance Features:

  • Safety: Users are warned to disconnect power before servicing, avoid exceeding maximum current carrying capacity, and keep the door closed when not servicing. Do not remove the insulator covering terminals.
  • Circuit Board Protection: A notice advises against touching circuit board components to prevent damage from static discharge.
  • Backup: The 100-hour supercapacitor provides backup for the clock, ensuring settings are retained during power outages.
  • FCC Compliance: The device complies with Part 15 of the FCC rules, designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a commercial environment. Users in residential areas are responsible for correcting any interference caused.
