Other potential causes include worn spindle bearings or belts, loose motor mount bolts, or the lathe being placed on an uneven surface. To address this, you can correct the workpiece by planing, bandsawing, reducing the RPM, or discarding it. Consider replacing worn bearings or belts, tightening loose bolts, or shimming the lathe bed to level it.

Also, ensure the motor fan is free of sawdust.

  The tailstock on your Jet Lathe might move when applying pressure due to excessive force. The tailstock screw action can apply significant pressure to the workpiece and headstock, so use only enough force to secure the workpiece. Alternatively, greasy or oily surfaces on the lathe bed and tailstock mating surfaces could be the cause. Slide the tailstock to the right side of the lathe against the stop. Move the headstock into position and apply pressure to the workpiece with the tailstock. Clean the surfaces with a cleaner degreaser.
