2 General product information
The JSK36D Air Release is a pneumatically activated version of the
JSK36D standard fifth wheel coupling (ECE 55R 01 0301), with the
same load data and heights. This version differs from the stan-
dard fifth wheel coupling in that the kinematic locking mechanism
has been modified for opening with a pneumatic cylinder and the
interface has been prepared for remote control and remote dis-
play by the operator.
These installation and operating instructions describe the con-
trolled installation of the system by a vehicle construction firm,
different functional and operator information and special mainte-
nance instructions.
Due to the different vehicle bodies available, the components
required for the remote control and display on the vehicle are
not included in delivery and must therefore by provided by vehicle
construction firms themselves. It is important to note that all the
necessary components must satisfy the legal requirements and be
authorised for use on public roads.
The vehicle construction firm is responsible for the correct installa-
tion of the fifth wheel coupling. Installation must be carried out by
authorised and appropriately trained specialist personnel. Autho-
risation for use on public roads can only be obtained if the vehicle
construction firm can guarantee compliance with the installation
instructions below and with the legal provisions (ECE R55 section
13). If installation deviates from the above requirements, the vehi-
cle is not road-legal and warranty claims against JOST are excluded.
