3 Installation
3.1 General installation instructions
To secure the JSK36D Air Release (in accordance with Regulation
ECE R55 01) to the vehicle chassis, make sure that all the fastening
holes of the fifth wheel coupling are used. Therefore, use 11 M16
grade 8.8 bolts (preferably M16 x 1.5).
ATTENTION!
With the JSK36D Air Release version, the bolts
must be inserted and fitted from above. If this
instruction is not heeded, the projecting bolt
thread could damage parts of the fifth wheel cou-
pling at the maximum tilt angle. If this is not possi-
ble due to the design of the vehicle body, the vehi-
cle construction firm must take suitable precau-
tions to protect the fifth wheel coupling.
The fifth wheel coupling must be able to move freely and must not
be in contact with either the mounting plate or parts of the chassis
or flitch when the vehicle is being driven. All lines such as electric
cables, ropes and pneumatic hoses must not restrict the system’s
range of movement and must be routed in such a way that they
are not damaged when the vehicle is being driven.
Taking into account the necessary minimum range of movement
of the semi-trailer relative to the tractor unit, the vehicle construc-
tion firm must take suitable measures to ensure that the legal
requirements (ISO 1726) are complied with and the fifth wheel
coupling and remote control device remain undamaged.
In the JSK36D “PNFA” version, the tipping angle may need to be
restricted at the front in the direction of travel, depending on the
vehicle body. It is essential to check this before use, especially
when the height is low (e.g. 150 mm).
The required JOST tilt stops based on fifth wheel coupling height
are as follows:
Height of fifth wheel coupling Tilt stop
150 mm SKE013870000
172 mm
185 mm
