Histogram feature added
The histogram shows the brightness distribution, and is employed
mainly for checking the exposure of the image.
1. Set the histogram feature to ON.
Set [Main Menu]N[LCD / VF]N[Display Settings]N[Histogram]
to On.
You can also press the user button that is assigned with
“Histogram”.
2. Set the upper and lower limits of the histogram display.
After setting, the brightness level is displayed in red color.
Icon display added when zebra function is “On”
During zebra pattern display, (zebra icon) is displayed on the
display screen in Camera mode.

The JVC GY-HM200 and GY-HM170 are professional video cameras, with the GY-HM200 offering additional features. This document outlines changes and additions to their functionalities and on-screen displays.

Function Description

The cameras support 4K recording, with new bit rate options and enhanced control over various recording and streaming parameters. They feature a histogram display for exposure control, an icon display for zebra function, and expanded focus modes. The devices also offer advanced network capabilities, including adaptive bit rate streaming, FTP resume functionality, and ZIXI protocol support.

HDMI/SDI Output Resolutions:

  • Setting values: 576i, 576p, 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p, 1080/30p, 1080/25p, 1080/24p, 2160/24p, 2160/25p, 2160/30p.

Usage Features

Recording Trigger:

  • HDMI (GY-HM200): Superimposes trigger signals with the HDMI terminal and REC button, outputting recording/stop control signals to compatible devices.
  • On (GY-HM170): Similar to HDMI for GY-HM170.
  • SDI (GY-HM200): Superimposes trigger signals with the SDI OUT terminal and REC button, outputting recording/stop control signals.
  • HDMI+SDI (GY-HM200): Combines HDMI and SDI trigger signals.
  • Note: Rec Trigger is fixed to "Off" and disabled if HDMI/SDI Out is "Off" or if Rec Mode is "Interval Rec" or "Frame Rec".

Histogram Display:

  • Activation: Set [Main Menu]→[LCD / VF]→[Display Settings]→[Histogram] to On, or assign to a user button.
  • Brightness Limits:
    • Top: Sets maximum brightness limit (5% to 110%, default 80%).
    • Bottom: Sets minimum brightness limit (0% to 105%, default 20%).
    • Brightness levels outside these limits are displayed in red.

Expanded Focus (4K mode):

  • Adds an approximately 2.5x display mode, switchable with the Set button from the conventional dot-by-dot (approximately 5x) display.
  • Initial Expanded Focus display upon power on is dot-by-dot equivalent.

Camera Data Display:

  • Always: Displays Iris F-number, Gain, Shutter, and White Balance values. An [A] icon indicates Auto mode.
  • Manual Only: Displays Iris F-number, Gain, Shutter, and White Balance values only in Manual mode.

Iris Dial Functionality:

  • Iris/Shutter/AE Level: Iris dial operates shutter when [SHUTTER] button is pressed, AE level when [AE LEVEL] button is pressed, then reverts to iris operation.
  • Other options: Iris, Shutter, AE Level.

HDMI TC:

  • Allows superimposing time code to the HDMI output terminal.
  • Note: Fixed to "Off" and disabled if HDMI/SDI Out is "SDI" or "Off" (GY-HM200), or if HDMI Out is "Off" (GY-HM170).

SD Aspect (Side Cut):

  • Side Cut: Displays wide screen with left and right sides cut off.
  • Other options: Squeeze, Letter.
  • Note: Squeeze and Letter are available when "SD" is selected in [System]→[Record Set]→[Record Format]→[System].

Clip Continuous Recording (AVCHD):

  • "Clip Continuous" is added to the "AVCHD" format in [System]→[Record Set]→[Rec Mode].
  • Allows continuous recording in AVCHD mode.

Thumbnail Screen Metadata:

  • Added "Clip Size" and "Gamma" to the detailed screen metadata.

Maintenance Features

FTP Resume Function (GY-HM200):

  • When an FTP transfer is interrupted, a confirmation screen appears (Overwrite, Skip, Resume).
  • "Resume" appends data from the point of interruption.
  • Note: Requires an FTP server with resume function. Disabled for SFTP protocol or when "HTTP" is selected in [Select FTP Proxy].

Adaptive Bit Rate (GY-HM200):

  • When "On," the bit rate automatically adjusts based on network bandwidth.
  • Note: Available only when [Type] is "ZIXI" and [Latency] is "Medium" or "Low". Bit rate displayed on status screen only when "On".

PCR Jitter (GY-HM200):

  • Low: Reduces PCR jitter for live streaming.
  • Note: Selectable only when [Type] is "MPEG2-TS/UDP".

APN (Access Point Name) Setting (GY-HM200):

  • Added to [System]→[Network] / [Settings]→[Connection Setup].
  • Caution: APN setting is written to the cellular adapter. Incorrect settings can lead to communication failure or expensive bills.
  • Note: Grayed out if APN cannot be set for the attached adapter.

ZIXI Protocol Support (GY-HM200):

  • "ZIXI" added to [System]→[Network] / [Settings]→[Clip Server]→[Clip-FTP1/2/3/4]→[Protocol].
  • When "ZIXI" is selected, [Username] changes to [Stream ID].
  • Note: Requires a dedicated server. Enables the "Resume" function.
