3.6 Ergo Back Inserts
The Ergo Back Inserts provide users with lumbar support and promote a healthy,
upright posture by maintaining natural spinal alignment.
To properly install the Ergo Back Inserts:
1. Move behind the wheelchair and unfasten the Velcro straps that secure the left
and right sides of the backrest.
2. Determine and note the location of the user’s Posterior Superior Iliac Spine
(PSIS).
3. Locate the Ergo Back Insert pockets and determine which horizontal positions
most closely align with the user’s PSIS.
4. Decide whether to install the Ergo Back Insert normally or upside down,
depending on which vertical orientation provides better support to the user’s
PSIS.
5. With the “Ergo” logo facing away from the user, slide the Ergo Back Inserts into
the identified pockets, ensuring the chosen vertical orientation provides
maximum support to the user’s PSIS.
6. Firmly pull the Velcro straps unfastened in Step 2 toward the center of the
backrest and re-secure them with an appropriate level of tension based on the
user’s comfort.
NOTE
You may purchase and install an additional set of Ergo Back Inserts if needed.
