Manual Checks and Procedures
Manual Check of Keyboard
Check that each key works properly. Check that the keyboard backlight LEDs
come on when a key is pressed.
Manual Check of LCD
Press Service (7) > Display, then use Display Colors and Brightness keys to
exercise the display. Check for even brightness in the LCD backlight.
Manual Check of RPG Operation
Activate a marker and use the RPG to move the marker.
Load Instrument Serial Number into the A5 System Board
Instructions for this process may be accessed via the “Load serial number” link

Install Firmware from SD Card
A specially configured SD card must be used when the flash memory on the A6
SOM board is new or when the A6 SOM board memory has become corrupted.
Instructions for creating and using the SD card are available at the “SD card for
installing firmware” link at www.keysight.com/find/fieldfoxsupport
Compare Serial Numbers
Compare the serial number stored in the instrument memory with the serial
number tag on the back of the instrument.
To access the stored serial number, press:
System (7) > Service Diagnostics > System Information
Check Sound
See “Checking Display Brightness and Sound” on page 45.
Check Time and Date
Check the current time and date. Press System > System Configuration >
More > Update time using Internet
Re-Install Options
See the “Service Related User Operations” section of Chapter 8 for
information on re-installing options.
