Pressurereliefvalve
Thetransponderisttedwithapressurereliefvalveatthebottomoftheunit.The
reliefvalvepreventsoverpressure.Thisvalvewillreleasethepressureifitexceeds
approximately1.0bar.
Thereliefvalvewillnormallypopoutgentlyreleasingthepressure.Thevalveisreset
byrmlypushingthevalvebackinandislevelledwiththesurroundingsurface.
Resettingthevalvecanincertaincasesbeobstructedduetoproductionofacidsandsalts
leakingfromadamagedbattery.Insuchcasesthebatteryandcircuitsmayhavebeen
damaged.PleasecontactKongsbergMaritimeforassistance.
Handlingatransponderwithanopenreliefvalveorheatedbody
Ifthetransponderbodyishotwhenrecovered,placethetransponderfullysubmerged
inabucketofwaterfor24hoursordeployintotheseapermanently.Ifthismethodis
impossible,thetranspondercanbecooledwithlotsofcoldwaterusingarehose.
Ifthetransponderpressurereliefvalveemitsgasorliquidswhenrecovered,placethe
transponderfullysubmergedinabucketofwaterfor24hoursordeployintothesea
permanently.Ifthismethodisimpossible,thetranspondercanbecooledwithlotsof
coldwaterusingarehose.
Chargingthebattery(on-deck)
Chargingthebatteryisconnectedwithsomerisk,pleasereadtheinformationandfollow
thechargeprocedurecarefully
Context
Thebatterymustbefullychargedbeforelongtermstorageanditisrecommended
torechargethebatteryevery6monthstomakesurethebatterydoesnotdischarge
completelyovertime.Acompletelydischargedbatterywillnotcharge,asalllithium
ionbatteries.
Requiredbatterystatefortransportationis30%orlessremainingcapacitytocomply
withregulations.
