5.4.1.6 Function
The valve consists of the pressure-retaining parts, i.e. body 100 and body bonnet 161.
The functional unit consists of valve disc 350, stem 200, and handwheel 961. Body 100
and body bonnet 161 are joined by means of hexagon head bolts 901 and hexagon
nuts 920 for body material EN-GJL-250. Studs 902 are used for body material EN-
GJS-400-18-LT. The joint is sealed to atmosphere by joint ring 411.
The functional unit basically consists of valve disc 350 and stem 200, bellows 442, and
handwheel 961. Back-up gland packing 461 is tightened by means of two stuffing
box screws 45-6 at stuffing box ring 454.

When delivered, the back-up gland packing is not fully tightened. In the event of a
bellows failure, stuffing box screws 45-6 must be tightened to prevent fluid leakage
(ðSection2.7,Page9) .
The bellows-type stem seal is maintenance-free. As standard, the seat/disc interface
of body 100 and valve disc 350 is made of rust-proof materials or PTFE rings (valve
disc / PTFE variant).
