1.
Suspend
the
thermostat
in
the water by a string
with
its
end inserted between the valve and seat,
2.
Heating the water gradually, read
the
temperature when the valve opens and leaves
the
string.
3.
Continue heating and read
the
temperature when
the valve opens approx.
6
mm (0.236 in.).
4.
If the measurement
is
not
within
the factory
specifications, replace
the
thermostat.

Unscrew the thermostat cover mounting screws

Remove the thermostat

Unscrew the water flange mounting screws (5),

and remove the thermostat cover

remove the water pump from the gear case cover.

Remove the water pump flange (1).

Press out the water pump shaft

with
the
impeller (5) on
it.

Remove
the
impeller

from the water pump
shaft
(2).

Remove the mechanical seal

Apply liquid-type gasket (Three Bond 1215 or

of
a new water pump
gasket.
