7. switch to review mode (not record mode!), and
8. connect it to a free USB port on your computer
using the USB lead supplied. The camera is auto-
matically detected as an additional “Removable
drive”. It contains the folder “DCIM” and the direc-
tory in which the pictures are saved, e.g.
100LEICA”.
9. From there, you can then copy the picture files into
a folder of your choice on your hard drive using the
normal Windows®Explorer method.
Note: The programs ACDSee®6 Power Pack, LEICA
USB Remote Control Software and Quick Time® can
also be installed from the LEICA Digital Camera Soft-
ware installer.
With Windows®ME, Windows®2000,
Windows®XP
1. Set the LEICA DIGILUX 2 to the USB mode MASS
STORAGE (see above),
2. switch to review mode (not record mode!), and
3. connect it to a free USB port on your computer
using the USB lead supplied. The computer auto-
matically detects the camera.
With Windows®ME/2000/XP no more drivers
need to be installed.
4. You can therefore proceed as described above in
items 6–9.
With Mac®OS 9 and Mac®OS X
1. Set the LEICA D-LUX to review mode (not record
mode!) and
2. connect it to a free USB lead port on your com-
puter using the USB lead (F) supplied.
3. The computer automatically detects the camera,
it appears as a symbol on the desktop.
4. To transfer the data, open the DCIM folder by
double clicking on the appropriate symbol. You will
find individual directories called 100LEICA,
101LEICA, etc..
5. From there, you can then copy the picture files into
a folder of your choice on your hard drive in the
normal way.
Connecting and transferring data in PTP mode
With Windows®XP
1. Set the LEICA DIGILUX 2 to the USB mode PTP
(see above),
2. switch to review mode (not record mode!), and
3. connect it to a free USB port on your computer
using the USB lead supplied.
4. The computer automatically detects the camera
and launches an Assistant to access the camera.
5. Launch the item “Microsoft®Scanner and Camera
Assistant” or select a picture editing program, e.g.
Adobe®Photoshop®Elements 2 if installed.
6. Now follow the instructions on the screen.
Note: Do not select the point “Microsoft®Office®
Document Imaging” This is primarily used to access
documents via a scanner and is not compatible with
digital cameras.
