1.IfyouareupdatingfromaCD-ROM,inserttheashupdateCD-ROMintheopticaldrivebeforeturning
offthecomputer.
2.Shutdowntheoperatingsystemandturnoffthecomputer.
3.Ifyouareupdatingfromadiskette,inserttheashupdatedisketteinthediskettedrive.Turnonthe
computer.Theupdatebegins.
4.Whenyouarepromptedtoselectalanguage,pressthenumberonyourkeyboardthatcorrespondsto
thelanguage;thenpressEnter.
5.Whenpromptedtochangetheserialnumber,pressY,typethesevencharacterserialnumberofyour
computer,andthenpressEnter.
6.Whenpromptedtochangethemachinetype/model,pressY,typethesevencharactermachine
type/modelofyourcomputer,andthenpressEnter.
7.Followtheinstructionsonthescreentocompletetheupdate.

4.ScrolldowntotheBIOScategoryandclickontheFlashBiosUpdate.
5.OntheFlashBIOSUpdatepage,scrolldowntolocatethe.txtlefortheashfromtheoperatingsystem
version.Clickthe.txtle.
6.Printtheseinstructions.Thisisveryimportantbecausetheseinstructionsarenotonthescreenafter
thedownloadbegins.
7.Fromthebrowser,clickBacktoreturntothelistofles.Carefullyfollowtheprintedinstructionsto
download,extract,andinstalltheupdate.
RecoveringfromaPOST/BIOSupdatefailure
Attention:IfaninterruptionoccursduringaPOST/BIOSupdate(ashupdate),thecomputermightnot
restartcorrectly.Ifthisoccurs,performthefollowingprocedure(alsoknownasaBoot-blockrecovery)
Note:Ifyourcomputerhasnointernaldiskettedrive,anoptionalUSBdiskettedrivemustbeconnectedto
usetheBIOSashdiskette.
1.Openthecover.
2.RemoveanypartsnecessarytogainaccesstotheClearCMOS/Recoveryjumper.
3.MovetheClearCMOS/Recoveryjumperfromthestandardposition(pins1and2)topins2and3.
4.InserttheBIOSashdisketteinthediskettedrive.
5.Closethecoverandreconnectthecomputerpowercordtothecomputerandtoanelectricaloutlet.
Turnonthecomputer.
6.Therecoverysessiontakestwotothreeminutes.Duringthistimeyouwillhearaseriesofbeeps.After
theupdatesessioncompletes,theseriesofbeepsendsandthecomputerautomaticallyturnsoff.
Thereisnovideoduringtherecoverysession.
7.Whenthecomputerturnsoff,openthecover.
8.MovetheClearCMOS/Recoveryjumperbacktotheoriginalposition(pins1and2)
9.RemovetheBIOSashdiskettefromthediskettedrive.
10.Closeorinstallthecoverandreconnectallexternalcables.
