RestoringthefactorycontentsbyusingRecoveryDiscSet
Whentheharddiskdriveisreplacedbecauseofafailure,noproductrecoveryprogramisonthenewdrive.
Inthiscase,youmustusetheRecoveryDiscSetforthecomputer.OrdertheRecoveryDiscSetandthe
driveatthesametimesothatyoucanrecoverthenewdrivewiththepre-installedsoftwarewhentheyarrive.

TherecoverydiscsetconsistsoftheuserinstructionsandthefollowingsetofDVDstorestorethecomputer
totheoriginalfactoryconguration.

Windowsoperatingsystem.Usethisdisctostarttherecoveryprocess.
ApplicationsandDriversRecoveryDisc(oneormorediscs)
Thisdiscrestoresthepreinstalledapplicationsanddriversonthecomputer.
SupplementalRecoveryDisc
Thisdisccontainsadditionalcontent,suchasupdatestothesoftwarethatwaspreinstalledonthecomputer.
NotallrecoverydiscsetscomewithaSupplementalRecoveryDisc.
Notes:
•Y oumusthaveaDVDdrivetousetherecoverydiscs.IfyoudonothaveaninternalDVDdrive,you
canuseanexternalUSBDVDdrive.
•Duringtherecoveryprocess,alldataonthedrivewillbedeleted.Ifpossible,copyanyimportantdata
orpersonallesthatyouwanttokeepontoremovablemediaoranetworkdrivebeforeyoustartthe
recoveryprocess.
Torestorethecomputertotheoriginalfactorycongurationusingtherecoverydiscset,dothefollowing:

Ifyouuserecoverydiscs,therecoveryprocesswilltakeabouttwohours.
1.MaketheCD/DVDdrivetherststartupdeviceinthestartupsequenceusingthefollowingprocedure:
a.PressandholddowntheF1key,andthenturnonthecomputer.Whenthelogoscreenisdisplayed
orifyouhearrepeatingbeeps,releasetheF1key.TheThinkPadSetupprogramopens.
b.UsethearrowkeystoselectStartup➙Boot.
c.SelecttheCD/DVDdriveasthe1stBootDevice.
