thatisdisplayedislessthan
theamountofinstalledphysical
memory.
1.Makesurethat:
•NoerrorLEDsarelitontheoperatorinformationpanelorontheDIMM.
•Memorymirroringdoesnotaccountforthediscrepancy.
•Thememorymodulesareseatedcorrectly.
•Youhaveinstalledthecorrecttypeofmemory.
•Ifyouchangedthememory,youupdatedthememorycongurationinthe
SetupUtilityprogram.
•Allbanksofmemoryareenabled.Theservermighthaveautomatically
disabledamemorybankwhenitdetectedaproblem,oramemorybank
mighthavebeenmanuallydisabled.
2.CheckthePOSTeventlogforDIMMerrormessages:
•IfaDIMMwasdisabledbyasystems-managementinterrupt(SMI),replace
theDIMM.
•IfaDIMMwasdisabledbytheuserorbyPOST,runtheSetupUtilityprogram
andenabletheDIMM.
3.Makesurethatthereisnomemorymismatchwhentheserverisattheminimum
memoryconguration.
4.AddonepairofDIMMsatatime,makingsurethattheDIMMsineachpair
arematching.
5.ReseattheDIMMs.
6.ReplacetheDIMMsoneatatimeintheorderandrestarttheservereachtime.
MultiplerowsofDIMMsina
branchareidentiedasfailing.
1.ReseattheDIMMs;then,restarttheserver.
2.Replacethelowest-numberedDIMMswithidenticalknowngoodDIMMs;
then,restarttheserver.Repeatasnecessary.Ifthefailurescontinueafterall
identiedpairsarereplaced,contactatrainedservicetechnicianforhelp.
3.ReturntheremovedDIMMs,onepairatatime,totheiroriginalconnectors,
restartingtheserveraftereachpair,untilapairfails.ReplaceeachDIMMin
thefailedpairwithanidenticalknowngoodDIMM,restartingtheserverafter
youreinstalleachDIMM.ReplacethefailedDIMM.Repeattheseactionsuntil
youhavetestedallremovedDIMMs.
4.(Trainedservicetechnicianonly)Replacethesystemboard.
