Solving Print Quality Problems
Problem
• The print media may not meet specifications (for example, if
the print media is too moist or too rough). See “Print Media
Specifications” on page A.3.
• The transfer roller may be dirty. See “Cleaning the Inside”
on page 6.6.
• The paper path may need cleaning. See “Cleaning the
Inside" on page 6.6.
Toner specks
If faded areas, generally rounded, occur randomly on the page:
• A single sheet of print media may be defective. Try reprinting
the job.
• The moisture content of the print media is uneven or the print
media has moist spots on its surface. Try a different kind or
brand of print media. See “Print Media Specifications” on
page A.3.
• The print media lot is bad. The manufacturing processes can
cause some areas to reject toner. Try a different kind or brand
of print media.
• The print cartridge may be defective. See “Vertical repetitive
defects” on page 7.14.
• If these steps do not correct the problems, contact a service
representative.
Dropouts
If black vertical streaks appear on the page:
• The photosensitive drum inside the print cartridge has
probably been scratched. Install a new print cartridge.
