3.5.9.2 MBD1000
The MBD1000 IC is the baseband IC within the FLO chipset; it supplements the RBR1000 IC to
receive multicast signals and communicate data, status, and controls with the MSM device. Since the
FLO system is a forward link-only network, there are no FLO transmit functions in the FLO handsets,
although it does include the phones transmit functions. The two FLO ICs are highly integrated and
fulfill specific functions; functional requirements are partitioned between the ICs to yield a complete,
optimal receiver implementation. Overall receiver performance depends upon the combined,
complementary performance of both ICs.
