Problem Possible Solution
Timer 
 
Recording
Timer recording does not 
work properly.
•   Check whether the system time is correct.
•   Check whether the timer program is accurately set to desired time slot 
or channel.
•   Check whether you have inserted a recordable disc.
•   Make sure you switch off the DVD recorder to activate the Timer 
Record function. 
Recording result is not 
completed.
•   Check whether there is a schedule overlap. If so, go to the Timer 
Record menu to make correction.
•   Check whether there is enough space on your disc.
The timer program 
remains even after 
recording finishes.
•   The system does not delete timer program records. You have to 
manually delete the records on the Timer Record menu.
Sound
No sound. •   Check whether the audio cable is well connected.
•   Check if the audio cable is damaged.
•   Check whether the input source setting on the amplifier is correct.
•   Check whether the disc or video title being played is recorded in DTS 
format. DTS format is not supported by this DVD recorder.
•   There is no sound when playback is paused or is under scanning mode 
(even forwards at regular speed) or is set for slow motion. 
Press PLAY to resume regular playback.
•   If the audio signal does not come through the DIGITAL OUT jacks, 
please check whether related settings (on System Setup menu) for the 
composite audio output are correct.
The sound from the 
recorder is not presented 
properly or is distorted.
•   Check whether the audio cable is well connected.
•   Check if the audio cable is damaged.
•   Make sure the amplifier/receiver or TV is set to the correct input and 
the volume is switched on.
•   If the sound is distorted, try cleaning the cable plugs.
Playback
Cannot play back record-
ings using this recorder 
or other players
•   Check if the disc is required to be finalized. 
•   Discs recorded with copy-once material cannot be played on non-
CPRM compatible players.
The recorder starts  
playing the disc 
automatically.
•   DVD-Video disc features an auto playback function.
