Disassembly / reassembly
Intake valve
Assembly: Don’t interchange
the exhaust and intake valves.
Exhaust valve:
Assembly: Check exhaust
valve taper face for chipping
or excessive carbon deposits
before assembling.
Valve spring (2)
Valve spring retainer(2)
Disassembly: Push down the spring
retainer and move the retainer to the small
hole so that the valve stem slips through
the small hole.
The exhaust valve retainer has a larger
groove than the intake valve retainer so
that it can accept the valve rotator.
Caution: don’t disassemble the valve
spring while the cylinder cover is not
removed, or the valve stem will drop into
the combustion chamber.
Valve rotator(2)
Be sure to assemble. If
the engine is operated
with the rotator not
attached, the valve will
drop into cylinder.
Cylinder head
Push rod (2)
Assembly:
Check the two ends of the
push rod for wearing and
push rod for straightening.
Be sure that two ends of
push rod completely seat
on the lifter and rocker seat.
Rocker (2)
Assembly: Check the
contacting face of rocker with
adjust nut and push rod for
wearing before assembling.

Reassembly:
Clean and adjust spark
plug before installation.
