4.3 Voltage 
Frequency 
Control (VFC)
Apply this mode of commissioning when you want to use the VFC control
mode. 
VFC commissioning, traction 
drive without encoder
This is the standard commissioning mode. It is based on the factory
defaults.
Prerequisite:
• Inverter module fully connected.
• Recommended IEC standard motor (see section A-1) connected.
• Control terminals wires according to 
terminal assignment 1,
 
see page 3-13.
• For step 2 a K
EYPAD KP200 or a PC with installed DRIVEMANAGER 
may be necessary; for operation see section 4.6 and 4.7.
Attention: Make sure the rotating drive in your machine cannot cause any 
damage (e.g. overrunning its stop limit) during commissioning.

Switch on the power to the inverter 
module.
After power-up the inverter module per-
forms a self-test (lasting approx. 1... 3 s).

Check that your drive can be run at 
the rotating field frequency and with 
the ramps as per the factory setting.
Quick jog = 50 Hz
Slow jog = 20 Hz
Acceleration ramp = 20 Hz/s

Deceleration and stop ramp = 20 Hz/s

If this is not possible, change the 
parameters listed in the column 
adjacent.
Back-up the setting in subject area

Close ENPO contact. Enables power stage.

Start drive by closing the STL or STR 
contact.
STL = Start counter-clockwise
STR = Start clockwise

Check direction of rotation of motor 
shaft.
If direction is wrong check motor connec-
tion (phase sequence).

Brake drive by opening the start 
contact.
Drive brakes down to a standstill.

Open ENPO contact. Safely disables the power stage.
Commissioning is complete.
1) Factory setting from BG1 
to BG5 (15 kW ) = 20 Hz/s, as 
from BG6 (22 kW) to 
BG8 = 5 Hz/s
