Fan Clearance - Universal Mount
WARNING: FANS ARE NOT MEANT TO BE OPERATED IN WINDY CONDITIONS.
The Universal Mount can be used in any application but must always be used in windy
conditions, applications where wind may sometimes be present or where the total clearance
between the mount and the airfoils is greater than 10 feet. The minimum distance of a fan to a
wall or similar obstruction should be no less than 1.5 times the diameter of the fan.

The drop lengths above are minimum recommendations only, based solely on roof pitch and
fan diameter. Other factors, such as allowing for proper airow into the fan must be evaluated
when determining drop length requirements. In addition, MacroAir strongly recommends that
the fan airfoils must be a minimum of 10 feet (3.05 meters) above the oor. Contact MacroAir for
assistance with fan placement and drop length selection (contact information can be found on
page 74).
