LIFT TRUCK MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
NOTE: For any operations other than regular maintenance (see: 3 - MAINTENANCE: SERVICING SCHEDULE), consult your
dealer.
- Wear clothes suitable for the maintenance of the lift truck, avoid wearing jewelery and loose clothes. Tie and protect
your hair, if necessary.
- Switch off the ignition with the ignition switch and remove the ignition key before working on the lift truck.
- Read the operator's manual carefully.
- Carry out all repairs immediately, even if the repairs concerned are minor.
- Repair all leaks immediately, even if the leak concerned is minor.
- Make sure that the disposal of process materials and of spare parts is carried out in total safety and in an ecological way.
- Be careful of the risk of burning and splashing of battery acid.
MAINTENANCE
- Perform the periodic service (see: 3 - MAINTENANCE: SERVICING SCHEDULE) to keep your lift truck in good working
conditions. Failure to perform the periodic service may annul the contractual guarantee.
MAINTENANCE LOGBOOK
- The maintenance operations carried out in accordance with the recommendations given in part: 3 - MAINTENANCE:
SERVICING SCHEDULE and the other inspection, servicing or repair operations or modifications performed on the lift
truck or its attachments shall be recorded in a maintenance logbook. The entry for each operation shall include details
of the date of the works, the names of the individuals or companies having performed them, the type of operation and
its frequency, if applicable. The part numbers of any lift truck items replaced shall also be indicated.
LUBRICANT LEVELS
- Use the recommended lubricants (never use contaminated lubricants).
ELECTRICITY
NOTE: It is forbidden to carry out any work on the electrical circuit other than the operations described in part: 3 -
MAINTENANCE: SERVICING SCHEDULE.
IMPORTANT
Never add acid to the battery.
The polarity of the battery must not be reversed under any circumstances.
Handling and servicing a battery can be dangerous, take the following precautions:
- Wear protective goggles, gloves, an apron and acid-resistant clothing.
- Remove rings, watches, bracelets and any clothing incorporating metal.
- Keep the battery horizontal.
- Never smoke or work near a naked flame.
- Work in a well-ventilated area.
- Wash your hands each time you work on the battery, as acid is corrosive.
- In the event of electrolyte being spilled onto the skin or splashed in the eyes, rinse thoroughly with cold water for 15 minutes and call a doctor.
- Only use electrically insulated tools.
- Do not smoke or approach the lift truck with a flame while charging the battery (because of hydrogen emissions).
- Do not place metal items on the battery.
- Disconnect the battery before working on the electrical circuit.
- Keep the battery horizontal at all times.
- When changing the battery, use only batteries that are suitable for the weight, size and capacity of the lift truck
(see:2 - DESCRIPTION: SPECIFICATIONS).
- Top up the electrolyte level only with distilled or demineralized water.
