WITH CENTRAL FILLING
- Raise the battery cover (see: 2 - DESCRIPTION: INSTRUMENTS AND CONTROLS).
- Disconnect the battery plug (1).
- The level indicators (3) must be in the up position.
- If necessary, top up with clean distilled or demineralized water.
- Connect the pipe (4) to the pipe of the pump (5).
NOTE: The pump must be situated at a higher level than the battery.
- When the correct level is reached, the vanes (6) automatically stop turning.
- Disconnect the hose (4).
- Check the terminal connections and lightly smear with petroleum jelly to prevent
the formation of verdigris.
- Reconnect the battery plug (1).
- Close the battery cover.
IMPORTANT
Handling and servicing a battery can be dangerous, take the following precautions:
- Wear protective goggles, gloves, an apron and acid-resistant clothing.
- Remove rings, watches, bracelets and any clothing incorporating metal.
- Keep the battery horizontal.
- Never smoke or work near a naked flame.
- Work in a well-ventilated area.
- Wash your hands each time you work on the battery, as acid is corrosive.
- In the event of electrolyte being spilled onto the skin or splashed in the eyes, rinse thoroughly with cold water for
15minutes and call a doctor.
A3 – CLEANING THE BATTERY
CHECK
IMPORTANT
Disconnect the battery plug and protect before washing.
The battery must be kept clean and dry at all times to avoid self-discharge and leakage
currents.
- Raise the battery cover (see: 2 - DESCRIPTION: INSTRUMENTS AND CONTROLS).
WASHING
- Check that the caps are firmly closed.
- Clean the water with soft, non-pressurized water.
- Allow to dry in the open air and wipe the top of the battery with a clean cloth.
NOTE: After washing with water, part of the washing water will have entered the
battery tray and must therefore be drained.
DRAINING THE BATTERY TRAY
- Connect the pipe (1) to the tube (2).
- Fill the bulb (3) and connect it to the other end of the pipe (1).
- Place a container near to the battery. This container must be placed below the bottom of the tray.
- Once the pipe (1) is filled, remove the bulb (3) and place the end of pipe (1) over the container.
