Analysis of the volume check results
Traffic light signification
After the check process, two traffic lights are displayed in order to indicate the accuracy of
the volume measurement, one for inhaled volume, one for exhaled volume, relative to the
nominal volume of the syringe.
Accuracy better (less) than 3.5%. The linearity of the volume measurement is
good and meets ATS-ERS criteria. The system can be used.
Accuracy greater than 3.5%. The linearity of the volume measurement is not
good and does not meet ATS-ERS criteria. A verification of the system is
required.
Verification of the system
If one or two traffic lights are yellow or red, the operator must perform a verification of the
system described below.
1. Verify the Prevent flow sensor. It should be clean, free from dust and not damaged. If
necessary, clean it carefully or replace it.
2. Verify the connection of the umbilical to the module and the connection of the Prevent
flow sensor to the umbilical.
3. Verify that the calibration syringe is connected to the correct side of the Prevent flow
sensor (honeycomb side) with the light blue rubber adapter.
4. Verify the correct syringe volume (indicated on a label on the syringe) is the same
volume entered into the software.
5. Perform a new calibration.
After the verification of the system
Perform a check of the Prevent flow sensor and check the results.
Accuracy better (less) than 3.5%. The linearity of the volume measurement is
now good and meets ATS-ERS criteria. The system can be used.
Accuracy greater than 3.5%. The linearity of the volume measurement is not
good and does not meet ATS-ERS criteria. A verification of the system linearity
by a field service technician is required. Please contact your Medisoft
representative.
