5.4.2 Checking the Prevent flow sensor calibration
As the respiratory flow patterns are made up of many different flows, an individual flow
error will affect the overall result. The calibration can be verified at multiple flow rates with
the use of the Check button. This allows the operator to check different flow rates, ensuring
the quality of the volume measurement and linearity are good over the full operating range
of the flow sensor.
Checking process
Click on Check.
Wait for the red cross (zero flow measurement).
When the green check mark is displayed, the device is ready (the transducer is
zeroed). Connect the syringe to the flow sensor.
Perform several full strokes of the syringe at different flow rates (very high, high,
medium, low, very low).
With each complete stroke of the syringe, the measured volume is displayed, in blue
for the exhaled volume and in green for the inhaled volume. Check the values.
When you are satisfied with the number of cycles, select Stop. Analyse the results of
the check.
