Tension the chain by turning the chain
tensioning screw with a screwdriver.
Turn clockwise to increase the tension,
and anticlockwise to reduce it. The chain
is correctly tensioned if you can lift it up
about 2 mm in the middle of the bar.
IMPORTANT: All the links must be correctly positioned in the slot.
Chain tension
The chain must be correctly tensioned to ensure it is safe to use. The chain is correctly tensioned if you
can lift it up about 2 mm in the middle of the bar. The chain gets hot during the sawing, which makes it
become longer. Check the chain tension at least every 10 minutes, and adjust when necessary. This
applies especially to new chains. Slacken the chain on completion of the work, because the chain
becomes shorter when it cools. This prevents the chain being damaged.
Lubricating the chain
IMPORTANT: Unplug the power cord before checking and adjusting. Wear safety gloves.
IMPORTANT: Never use the tool without chain oil. The chain saw will be damaged if it used without, or
with too little chain oil.
IMPORTANT: Take the temperature into consideration.
Different ambient temperatures require lubricants with different viscosities. Thin oil (low viscosity) is
needed at low temperatures to ensure adequate lubrication. If you use the same oil at higher temperaturs
it will become thinner and can run off the chain, which will lead to the chain overheating and becoming
damaged. The oil also gets burned, which results in unnecessary pollution.
