Vertical Side Spray Heads
Vertical side spray is not recommended for use
when high winds are present. Due to the spray
head locations on the top of the water tank, the
wind will unevenly distribute the water and may
carry the water where it obstructs the view from
the operator’s position, potentially impairing
visibility and thereby creating dangerous
operating conditions.
Front Bumper Spray Heads
Front bumper spray heads are used and adjusted
like any other spray head for haul road and berm
operations. Spray heads mounted to a swiveling
coupling allow the fan pattern to be pointed down
towards the road and perform as a street sweeper.
This same configuration is very effective when
water patterns are needed to penetrate the
ground surface for compaction operations.
DUST SUPPRESSION
For dust suppression it is recommended that a
light coating of water be applied to the road
surface. This can be achieved by monitoring and
adjusting the engine rpm and vehicle speed with
properly adjusted spray heads that allow an even
coating of water to fall onto the road surface.
Typically 1 or 2 spray heads are employed for this
application.
