If the Engine Guardian System has been activated, reduce throttle speed. The horn will turn off when throttle speed is within the
allowable limit. Consult an Authorized CMD Repair Facility for assistance.
Troubleshooting Charts
Standard Helm Joystick
Symptom Remedy
Joystick does not control boat.
Both remote control levers are not in neutral. Put the remote control levers in
neutral.
Some of the engines are not running. Start the engine or engines.
Response to joystick inputs are erratic, or
joystick operates independent of input.
Ensure there are no radios or other sources of electronic or magnetic
interference near the joystick.
Joystick does not function properly and a fault
code is set.
Check VesselView for Guardian fault codes that cause engine power reduction.
If found, have the system checked by your Authorized Cummins MerCruiser
Diesel Repair Facility.
Auxiliary Joystick Station (If Equipped)
Symptom Remedy
Auxiliary joystick does not control boat.
Both remote control levers are not in neutral. Put the remote control levers in neutral.
Some of the engines are not running. Start the engine or engines.
Throttles have been severely derated due to drive train faults. Determine drive train
faults and make corrections or have the system checked by your Authorized Cummins
MerCruiser Diesel Repair Facility.
One or more drives has a gear shift capability fault. Determine gear shift faults and
make corrections or have the system checked by your Authorized Cummins
MerCruiser Diesel Repair Facility.
One or more drives have steering capability faults. Determine steering faults and make
corrections or have the system checked by your Authorized Cummins MerCruiser
Diesel Repair Facility.
Response to auxiliary joystick inputs
are erratic, or joystick operates
independent of input.
Ensure there are no radios or other sources of electronic or magnetic interference near
the joystick.
Auxiliary joystick does not function
properly and a fault indicator light is
flashing.
Check for fault that results in engine power reduction. If no fault is found, have the
system checked by your Authorized Cummins MerCruiser Diesel Repair Facility.
