3.2 Functional Principle
With pulse runtime measurement a short light pulse is sent, reflected and registered in the receiver. At the
same moment the time is stopped. The outgoing pulse starts a clock and the received pulse stops the clock.
The elapsed time (light runtime) is proportional to the light distance. The pulse runtime measurement sup-
press ambiguities in the received signal and enables well interfering light suppression.
