Taking a Blood Pressure Measurement
Starting measurement
1. Select standard (single measurement) or MAM mode (automatic triple measurement)
2. Press the ON/OFF button to start the measurement. Device will display current date and time, then
inflate the cuff automatically.
3. The cuff fit OK on the display indicates that the cuff is perfectly placed. If the icon (19)-D Suboptimal
Cuff Fit appears, the cuff is too loosely. Although device can still measure blood pressure, it is
recommended to stop measurement, and re-apply the cuff more tightly, before re-taking
measurement.
4. The measurement is performed during the inflation. The inflation speed may vary, this is a normal
occurrence.
5. During the measurement, the pulse indicator flashes in the display. Relax, breathe normally and do
not tense your arm muscles until the measurement result is displayed.
Caution: Remain still and do not move or talk during measurement. Motions caused by talking,
moving, trembling and other vibrations may interfere with the measurement and affect the
measurement accuracy!
6. The result, comprising the systolic and the diastolic blood pressure and the pulse rate is displayed.
The cuff can now be removed. The device returns to stand-by after approx. 1 min.
Aborting measurement (Emergency Stop)
Caution: You can stop the measurement at any time by pressing the ON/OFF button,
disconnecting the cuff, and by opening the cuff. (E.g. if you feel uneasy or an unpleasant pressure
sensation).
