Overview

This document is the User's Manual for the WIRELESS REMOTE CONTROL models RCN-E2 and RCN-EK2, designed for packaged air conditioners. It provides essential information for safe and proper operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Function Description

The wireless remote control allows users to manage various aspects of their air conditioner's operation. Key functions include:

  • ON/OFF Control: Initiates or stops the air conditioner's operation.
  • Mode Selection: Cycles through different operating modes such as AUTO, COOL, HEAT, FAN, and DRY.
  • Temperature Adjustment: Sets the desired room temperature using up/down buttons.
  • Fan Speed Control: Adjusts the fan speed through multiple settings (1-speed, 2-speed, 3-speed, 4-speed, AUTO).
  • Airflow Direction Control:
    • Up/Down Airflow (U/D): Controls the vertical louver position.
    • Left/Right Airflow (L/R): (RCN-EK2 only) Controls the horizontal louver position.
    • 3D AUTO Mode: (RCN-EK2 only) Automatically controls both fan speed and airflow direction for efficient room conditioning.
  • Timer Operations:
    • Current Time Setting: Allows users to set the accurate current time.
    • ON-TIMER Operation: Programs the air conditioner to start at a specified time.
    • OFF-TIMER Operation: Programs the air conditioner to stop at a specified time.
    • SLEEP TIMER Operation: Stops the air conditioner after a set duration (e.g., 1 to 12 hours), promoting energy saving and comfort during sleep.
    • PROGRAM TIMER Operation: Combines ON and OFF timers to automate daily operation and stopping times.
  • Specialized Operations:
    • ECO Mode: Activates energy-saving operation in COOL, HEAT, or AUTO modes by automatically adjusting performance based on outdoor temperature and setting standard temperatures (28°C for cool, 22°C for heat).
    • HI POWER Mode: Initiates a high-power operation for 15 minutes to quickly reach a comfortable room temperature in COOL or HEAT modes, then returns to normal operation.
    • SILENT Mode: Prioritizes quiet operation by controlling the outdoor unit.
    • NIGHT SETBACK Mode: (Home leave mode) Prevents extreme room temperature fluctuations when the user is away, with configurable temperature rules for cooling (35°C/33°C) and heating (0°C/10°C) and fan speed rules.
  • Indoor Function Settings: (Available only with master wireless receiver) Allows configuration of various indoor unit functions, including:
    • Fan speed settings (Standard, Setting 1, Setting 2).
    • Room heating temperature adjustment (Disable, +1°C, +2°C, +3°C).
    • Filter sign display settings (OFF, 180 hours, 600 hours, 1000 hours, or operation stop after 1000 hours).
    • Anti-draft setting (Disable, Enable).
    • Infrared sensor settings (Motion sensor setting: Disable/Enable; Motion sensor control: Disable/Power control only/Auto OFF only/Power control and Auto OFF).
    • Cooling fan residual-period running (Disable, 0.5 hours, 2 hours, 6 hours).
    • Heating fan residual-period running (Disable, 0.5 hours, 2 hours, 6 hours).
    • Remote control signal receiver LED brightness (High, Low, OFF).
  • Check Indication: Displays error codes on the monitor or through LED blinks to indicate malfunctions, assisting in troubleshooting and communication with service personnel.
  • Filter Sign: Indicates when the air filter needs cleaning through LED blinks.

Usage Features

  • Display Section: Features a liquid crystal display showing operation mode, set temperature, sleep timer time, indoor function setting number, fan speed, up/down and left/right airflow positions, current time, and indicators for ON/OFF TIMER, ECO mode, HI POWER, NIGHT SETBACK, SILENT, motion sensor, anti-draft setting, and child lock.
  • Operation Section: Includes various buttons for direct control: ON/OFF, MODE, TEMP (up/down), FAN SPEED, U/D (up/down louver), L/R (left/right louver - RCN-EK2 only), 3D AUTO (RCN-EK2 only), ON TIMER, OFF TIMER, SET, CANCEL, SLEEP, ECO, HI POWER, SILENT, NIGHT SETBACK, FILTER, FUNCTION SETTING switch, TIME SETUP switch, and ACL switch.

Maintenance Features

  • Battery Replacement:
    • Indicated by the air conditioner not displaying reception, a fading display, or no display.
    • Requires two new AAA alkaline batteries.
    • It's recommended to replace both batteries simultaneously and avoid mixing old and new or different types of batteries. Rechargeable batteries are not recommended.
    • After battery replacement, remote control settings, indoor function settings, and time display reset to default and must be reconfigured.
  • Cleaning the Remote Control:
    • Avoid using benzene, paint thinner, or wipes as they can cause discoloration or damage.
    • Wipe with a cloth squeezed tightly after wetting with diluted neutral detergent, then finish with a dry cloth.
  • Filter Cleaning Indication: The FILTER SIGN LED blinks to remind users to clean the air filter. After cleaning, press the FILTER button on the remote control to reset the sign. The default setting for this reminder is 180 hours, but it can be changed in the indoor function settings.
  • Error Indication: The CHECK MODE INDICATOR and various LEDs (RUN, TIMER/CHECK, CHECK1, CHECK2, FILTER SIGN) on the indoor unit's display section provide visual cues (blinking patterns or codes) for malfunctions, aiding in diagnosis and repair by service technicians.
  • General Care:
    • Keep the remote control away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures (above 40°C or below 0°C) to prevent deformation or discoloration.
    • Do not disassemble the remote control.
    • Avoid washing the remote control with water or liquid.
    • Do not touch electrical parts or operate buttons with wet hands.
    • Do not tap buttons or screens with pointed objects.
    • Remove batteries if the remote control will not be used for a long time.
  • Waste Disposal: The product is marked with the WEEE symbol, indicating it should not be mixed with general household waste. It should be treated at an authorized facility for re-use, recycling, and recovery. Users should contact their installer or local authority for disposal information.
