18 Commissioning and Operation
Do not put the pump in operation without hydraulic fluid
The pump must be completely filled with operating fluid before initial operation.
Use the drain port for filling the pump.
Check rotation direction of the drive motor.
Drive the hydraulic unit at low pressure until the system is free of air.
Commissioning of pumps for HFA, HFB, HFC, HFD fluids, run the pump for approx. one
hour at low pressure (30–50 bar).

Danger of explosion due to impermissible
overheating
of the radial piston pump!
Insufficient flushing can lead to impermissible overheating of the pump, so that the
temperature exceeds the maximum certified temperature classes.
Radial piston pumps are to be flushed according to the information given in the
user manual! See, Chap. 17.5 Flushing the Pump Housing
In order to ensure the correct operation of the flushing mode, the leakage oil
temperature must be monitored. If the leakage oil temperature exceeds 100°C
the pump must be automatically shut down.

Working with and on the radial piston pumps without the required basic mechanical and
hydraulic knowledge may cause injuries or parts may be damaged.
Only properly qualified and authorized users may work with and on the radial
piston pumps.

Danger of explosion!
The unsafe operation of the radial piston pump is dangerous.
Only operate the radial piston pumps in a safe and functional condition.
At least once per shift, check the pumps for damage visible from the outside and
defects such as leakage.
Report changes, including to the operating behavior, damage and defects to the
responsible department immediately. If necessary, stop the machine immediately
and secure it.
In case of a defect on the pump send it back for repair to Moog or an authorized
service center.
