5.1 Selecting Inputs
Inputs can be selected by pressing the front panel input
button (not UnitiQute 2), the handset up (5) and down (6)
keys or one of the handset input selection keys.
Note: The front panel input is automatically selected as
soon as a plug is inserted.
Note: The multiroom, Spotify
®
and Bluetooth inputs may
be selected remotely by the action of a remote Naim
streamer or the receipt of a Spotify
®
or Bluetooth stream.
Note: These are the default input names. They may
be altered within the setup menus. See Section 4.3.
Inputs can also be disabled so that they are hidden from
selection.
Pressing one of the handset input selection keys either
directly selects a single input or scrolls through a group of
inputs. For example, pressing the radio input selection key
scrolls through a group comprising the FM, DAB and iRadio
inputs.
Note: The default input selection key assignments may be
altered within the set up menus. See Section 4.11.2.
Selecting an input will route its audio signal via the power
amplier to the speaker outputs.
The front panel display will momentarily show input names
as they are selected before displaying input specic
information; CD track or radio preset for example.
If an input is not operational (for example, no USB memory
stick is attached) when selected, an alert message will
display.
5.2 Volume Control
Volume is controlled using either the front-panel controls
(SuperUniti: rotary knob; NaimUniti 2 and UnitiLite: buttons;
UnitiQute 2: touch-sensitive logo), the handset keys or the
Naim app. Volume control aects the speaker, headphone,
subwoofer and preamplier outputs.
Note: UnitiQute 2 logo volume control operates on brief
and extended touches. Touch the logo briey to mute or
un-mute. An extended logo touch alternately decreases or
increases the volume.
Note: In list or setup modes front panel volume control is
disabled on the UnitiLite and NaimUniti 2. Volume can still
be controlled using the handset volume keys.
The mute function silences the speaker, headphone,
subwoofer and preamplier outputs and is selected or
deselected by pressing the front panel mute button or
handset mute key, or by selecting the mute function in the
Naim app. On the UnitiQute 2 and SuperUniti mute can be
engaged or disengaged by touching the front panel Naim
logo. Mute is indicated by the display volume icon ashing.
5.3 Amplifier Display
In normal operation the front panel display primarily shows
information relating to the selected input. It will change
temporarily to show amplier adjustments such as volume
level and signal mute state as these are made.
5.4 Signal Outputs
In addition to speaker outputs Uniti Series ampliers can
provide preamplier outputs, subwoofer outputs, line
outputs and headphone outputs. Section 2.2.1 lists the
outputs tted to each Uniti Series model.
Uniti Series preamplier outputs are designed to enable an
upgrade or additional Naim Audio power amplier to be
connected.
The Uniti Series headphone amplier is able to drive most
commonly available headphones. Insertion of a headphone
plug will mute the speaker, preamplier and subwoofer
outputs.
5.5 Amplifier Fault Warnings
In the unlikely event that a Uniti Series power amplier
is overloaded, exceeds its normal operating temperature
or malfunctions, its output will mute and the front panel
display will show a warning message.
5. Uniti Series Amplifier
Uniti Series products incorporate a high performance integrated preamplier and power amplier based on established Naim
design principles. Using the amplier is simply a matter of selecting the desired input or stream and setting the listening
volume level.
