GENERAL INFORMATION
These Installation Instructions must be used in conjunction
with the appliance and appropriate PVA adapter kit Installation
Instructions. Clearances listed in these Instructions supersede
those in the appliance's Installation Instructions.
Power venting of direct vent appliances may result in the
reduction of efficiencies by as much as ten percent. Consider
this in making any venting and heating decisions in any
installation application.
SELECTING AND INSTALLING THE APPLIANCE
When selecting a gas appliance for use with the GPV, take into
consideration the various requirements and limitations in the

      Jennifer ChristensenAug 11, 2025
If you smell exhaust fumes and experience headaches, it indicates that the Napoleon Indoor Fireplace is spilling. Ensure that the door seal and relief flap seal are intact. Also, verify that the correct restrictor is installed and that the paint curing process is complete.

Why is carbon depositing on the glass of my Napoleon GPV GAS POWER VENT Indoor Fireplace?
    • C
      Claudia WallaceAug 17, 2025
If carbon is being deposited on the glass or combustion chamber surfaces of your Napoleon Indoor Fireplace, several factors could be at play. First, make sure the air shutter opening is free of lint or other obstructions and has the correct setting. Second, verify that the media is correctly positioned so the flame isn't directly hitting it. Third, open the air shutter to allow more primary air. Fourth, check the input rate, manifold pressure, and orifice size against the values on the rating plate. Fifth, ensure the door gasket isn't broken or missing and creates a tight seal. Sixth, confirm that both the 4" and 7" vent liners are free of holes and well-sealed at all joints. Lastly, check that the proper restrictor is being used.

Why are the flames so high on my Napoleon Indoor Fireplace?
    • D
      dennislisaAug 23, 2025
If the main burner flames on your Napoleon Indoor Fireplace are very aggressive, it is likely due to the absence of a restrictor. Install a restrictor. Alternatively, if a power vent is installed, remove the restrictor plate on the power vent.

Why won't the main burner light on my Napoleon Indoor Fireplace?
    • T
      Timothy JohnsonAug 28, 2025
If the main burner won’t light on your Napoleon Indoor Fireplace, the vacuum switch may not be activated. You should remove any blockage. In very cold conditions, ice may build up on the terminal and should be removed as needed. If this doesn't resolve the issue, test the vacuum switch and replace it if necessary.

How to fix a blue, lazy flame on my Napoleon GPV GAS POWER VENT Indoor Fireplace?
    • A
      Andrea Sparks MDSep 3, 2025
If the main burner flame of your Napoleon Indoor Fireplace appears as a blue, lazy, transparent flame, it could be due to a leak in the exhaust vent. Check the exhaust vent pipe and all connection seals to resolve this issue. Alternatively, incorrect installation could be the cause. Refer to the PVA kit for the appliance-specific restrictor.
