      If the flame is hitting the logs or combustion chamber, make sure the logs are in the right spot. Try opening the air shutter to let more air in. Check the input rate by looking at the manifold pressure and orifice size, matching them to what's on the rating plate. Make sure the door's seal isn't broken or missing and that it's tight. Check that both vent liners don't have holes and are sealed well at all joints. Also, make sure any horizontal venting has the right rise per foot.

      If you see a white or grey film forming, it's likely sulphur from the fuel depositing on the glass, logs, or combustion chamber. Clean the glass with a gas fireplace glass cleaner that's recommended. Remember, don't clean the glass when it's hot. If you don't clean the deposits regularly, the glass might get permanently marked.
