AE- 1 5 0 s y s t e m – U s e r M a n u a l

If a medium or large transformer tank needs monitoring, spread sensors layout
is recommended to reduce monitoring time. In this case, the acoustic sensors
can be installed at different locations on a tank wall or on multiple tank walls.
For wider coverage, one acoustic sensor can be installed on each tank wall.
For smaller tanks (tap changer, small transformer, etc.) the AE-150 can be
installed with standard sensor layout (all four acoustic sensors are attached to
the AE-150 main module). This method can also be used for medium to large
transformers, but would require more iterations to monitor the whole tank.
Standard sensor layout
The installation process is identical as standard operation. Follow all
steps from the Installation section of this manual.
Enter the transformer information (Transformer tab).
Set the communication (Communication tab).
Set the AE-150 location on the transformer tank (AE-150 position tab).
Refer to the Operation section of this manual.
Click the Controls tab.
In the Pre-set Configuration menu, select the PrPD setting of choice.
Click the AUTO-SET button. The AE-150 will set the acoustic channels
gain automatically. This process can take a few seconds. Wait until
completed.
Click on the Monitoring tab and then check the Enable checkbox.
Set the interval between two acquisitions in the Interval-Hours-Minutes
fields.
Set the Start Time and End Time.
Click the START MONITORING button to start the acquisition process.
Tip: It is recommended to let the instrument run for at least 24 hours
in monitoring mode (typically for a week). The operation requires
connecting the battery charger to the AE-150.
The acquired PrPDs acquisitions will be present in the Data Analysis >
Trend tab.
Spread sensors layout
The installation process is similar to the standard operation except that
the acoustic sensors are detached from the AE-150 main module. The
acoustic sensors can then be spread on either a single or multiple walls.
This method requires the use of the optional sensor magnetic holders.
