Why is the field of view dirty or dusty when using my Nikon Microscope eyepiece?

A dirty or dusty field of view can result from several issues. If the dirt or dust rotates when the eyepiece is turned, the eyepiece itself is likely dirty and needs cleaning. However, if the dirt or dust doesn't rotate when the eyepiece is turned, the possible causes are: the specimen is dirty, the tip of the condenser lens is dirty, the objective is dirty, the field diaphragm image is not focused on the specimen surface, or an aperture diaphragm is stopped down too far. To resolve these issues: * Clean the specimen. * Clean the condenser lens. * Clean the objective. * Ensure the condenser is focused and centered. * Open the aperture diaphragm to the proper size.
