2 OPERATION
2. OPERATION
Read and understand the Owner’s Manual before operating this
machine. Failure to follow the safety instructions could result in serious injury or death.
2.1 PRE-OPERATION
2.1.1 Interlocks and Fault Indications
• The engine starter will not engage unless the transmission shift lever is in
neutral and both ignition switches (chassis instrument panel and platform
remote control pendant) are in RUN position. When these conditions exist,
the starter is engaged by turning either switch to START.
• The instrument panel ignition switch is of the anti-restart type. Once the
engine has been cranked, the switch must be returned to OFF before the
engine can be cranked again.
• The platform UP function will not operate unless the parking brake is set,
and stabilizers are fully extended. The platform DOWN function will not
operate unless the parking brake is set.
• Platform and stabilizer functions will not operate unless OPERATIONAL
SAFETY switch is operated simultaneously.
• All vehicle running and working lights will operate only when instrument
panel ignition switch is in the RUN position.
• Stabilizers cannot be retracted unless platform is fully lowered.
• Vehicle cannot be moved with stabilizers down. Engine will die if
transmission lever is shifted from neutral position and RETRACT
STABILIZERS light will illuminate.
• A starter protection relay prevents starter from being cranked by either
ignition switch once engine is running.
• Engine will operate only if both ignition switches (chassis and platform) are
in RUN position. If platform ignition switch is in OFF position and chassis
switch is in RUN or START position, REMOTE SWITCH OFF light will
illuminate and starter will not engage.
• A keyswitch bypass relay in the emergency pump circuit automatically
provides power to the platform/stabilizer controls anytime the
EMERGENCY PUMP switch is on. The OPERATIONAL SAFETY switch
does not have to be held ON while using the emergency pump.
• If ignition switch is turned o, stabilizers must be lowered again to reset
electrical latch before platform can be raised.
