3.1 FP4 Generation Card Licenses
With the introduction of FP4 hardware assemblies, a new capability was introduced
to allow for these assemblies to be purchased with introductory capacity and
functionality and later upgraded to increased capacity and functionality via software
upgrades. These sets of capacity and functionality are referred to as card levels and
MDA levels.
These levels and associated upgrades apply to the following set of products:
• 7750 SR-1 integrated IOM-1 with MDA-e-XP
• 7750 SR-7/12/12e IOM5-e with MDA-e-XP
• 7950 XRS-20/20e XMA
• 7750 SR-2s/7s/14s XMA-s
• 7750 SR-1s integrated XMA-s
FP4 hardware licensing covers capacity and functionality. For an assembly that uses
QSFP28 front panel connectors, the hardware capacity limit is the number of
connectors that can be provisioned. For example, for the 7950 XRS-20/20e 2.4Tb/s
SR OS, 24-connector QSFP28 XMA, there are three different card levels:
• 12 connectors QSFP28 = 1.2 Tb/s
• 16 connectors QSFP28 = 1.6 Tb/s
• 24 connectors QSFP28 = 2.4 Tb/s
