PAY-AS-YOU-GROW FP4 HARDWARE LICENSING
REFERENCE GUIDE
Pay-As-You-Grow Licensing
Issue: 02 3HE 15453 AAAA TQZZA 01 19
For every FP4 assembly using levels, there is a unique orderable part for every level
and these might never have a software-based upgrade applied to them. But as
network needs grow, there is the capability to upgrade an installed assembly to a
higher level either in capacity or in functionality. These upgrades do not require the
replacement of physical hardware and all existing configuration of ports and services
can remain across the upgrade
3.1.1 FP4 Assembly Provisioning
For FP4 hardware assemblies, the card or XMA is shipped from the factory with an
encoding of both the card or XMA type and the FP4 license level within that type.
With these FP4 assemblies, it is now required to provision both the type and level to
inform the SR OS which features are available. Like the existing card type or MDA
type, the physical card installed in the chassis slot must match the provisioned type
and level. Otherwise, the assembly is not brought into service.
As an example, Table 5 describes the set of parts and the individual levels
comprising a 2-complex XMA of a 7750 SR-14s:
