4.1 ASLM
For PAYG licensing, the role of the ASLM is to generate license pool keys for the
CLM. This tool sits within the Nokia domain and is automatically triggered when a
purchase order is triggered in the system. The ASLM records the new licenses
available for the customer's network. Nokia creates a license pool file for the CLM
instance in use by the customer. If the customer uses multiple instances of the CLM,
perhaps for different administrative regions of their network, the ASLM can allocate
subsets of the licenses to the different CLM instances.
4.2 CLM
The CLM provides simplification of 7750 SR and 7950 XRS router license
management. By using the CLM, operators can flexibly control license entitlement
and monitor license usage for their managed 7x50 routers.
The CLM resides on a single server or virtual machine (VM) for a standalone
installation or on a pair of servers or VMs for a redundant installation. The CLM
server communicates with the managed 7750 SR and 7950 XRS routers as well as
the license key repository that is used to store the license keys used by the 7750 SR
and 7950 XRS routers. The CLM application allows an operator to configure,
manage, and monitor the license key deployment.
The CLM must have a license pool key successfully activated in order to make the
individual ASLs available for assignment to individual 7750 SR and 7950 XRS
routers.
4.3 7750 Node
Once CLM has successfully activates a new license in the 7750 SR or 7950 XRS
node, then the upgrades may be assigned to IOM or XMAs as described in section
FP4 Assembly Upgrading.
