Overview

The Nordic Cab Explorer is a versatile multi-purpose cart designed for the safe, comfortable, and functional transportation of children in various weather conditions and activities. It can be used as a bicycle trailer, stroller, jogger, and sled/hiking cart, making it suitable for active families.

Function Description:

The Nordic Cab Explorer is designed to adapt to a wide range of activities. Its core function is to transport children, but it can also be used for carrying goods. The cart's modular design allows for easy conversion between different modes:

  • Bicycle Trailer: Attaches to a bicycle for towing, providing a secure way to transport children or cargo during cycling. It features a bicycle arm, attachment, and safety cable for secure connection.
  • Stroller: Converts into a push stroller for everyday use, with a caster wheel and a handlebar for easy maneuverability. A safety strap is provided for secure handling.
  • Jogger (Sold Separately): Transforms into a jogger for running, utilizing a larger front wheel and a specialized handlebar. This mode also includes a safety strap.
  • Sled/Hiking Cart (Sold Separately): Equipped with skis and pull arms, it can be used for sledding or hiking in snowy conditions, or for pulling by a dog. A harness is included for the user.

The cart's canopy provides protection from the elements, featuring a front sunshade, mosquito net, and window. Ventilation is crucial, and the rear air flap must be open when using the rain cover. The seat is adjustable and includes a safety harness for securing children. A parking brake ensures the cart remains stationary when unattended.

Usage Features:

  • Easy Assembly and Conversion: The cart is designed for straightforward assembly and conversion between modes. Parts like the caster/adapter, end pieces, wheels, and various kits (jogger, sled/hiking) are attached using simple mechanisms such as release buttons, screws, and locking pins.
  • Adjustable Handlebar: The handlebar can be adjusted to multiple positions by pressing round plastic buttons and rotating it, enhancing user comfort.
  • Adjustable Seat: The seat can be set in an upright or recumbent position by adjusting straps and moving the seat base. It must be in the upright position when used as a bicycle trailer or at speeds above normal walking pace for safety.
  • Safety Harness: A comprehensive safety harness system is provided for one or two children, ensuring they are securely seated. It includes shoulder straps, hip belt, and adjustable pads.
  • Ventilation: The canopy includes a rear air flap for ventilation, which is critical for child safety, especially when using a rain cover.
  • Storage: The caster can be stored in a net bag behind the seat when not in use. The cart can be folded for compact storage.
  • Visibility: A flag/flagpole is recommended for bicycle trailer use to enhance visibility. An LED light is included for rear visibility and must always be used when the cart is a bicycle trailer.
  • Wheel Protectors: These must always be used when the cart is in bicycle trailer mode.
  • Shock Damping: For better shock damping in bicycle trailer mode, a slightly lower tire pressure can be used.

Maintenance Features:

  • Virtually Maintenance-Free: The Explorer is designed to be low-maintenance.
  • Cleaning:
    • Canopy and Seat: Can be removed from the casing and washed with cold water and mild soap. Strong detergents should be avoided.
    • Wheels: Should be washed regularly, and axle bolts greased.
  • Inspection:
    • Bicycle Attachment, Hydraulic Hose, and Bicycle Arm: Should be checked for wear and damage regularly and replaced if necessary.
    • Straps and Loose Parts: Ensure no straps or other loose parts can become entangled in the wheels.
    • Screws and Brackets: Check regularly for slack in the caster/adapter bracket and tighten securely to prevent noise and damage.
  • Canopy Care: Tears and holes should be repaired immediately. The canopy should not be stored long-term in direct sunlight. For extended storage, it's recommended to disassemble the cart, pack parts in the casing, and cover it with a storage cover (sold separately). The removable canopy, which glides on aluminum tracks, simplifies cleaning.
  • Ski Maintenance (Sled/Hiking Kit): Apply glide wax to the bottom of the skis to reduce snow friction. Liquid glide wax is easier to apply, followed by polishing with cork.

Safety Warnings (Key Points):

  • Always read the user manual carefully before use, especially with children.
  • Never replace original parts with non-Explorer parts.
  • Always use the parking brake when leaving the cart unattended.
  • Be careful when opening or folding the cart to avoid finger injuries.
  • Do not modify or alter the cart.
  • Ensure children cannot contact moving parts.
  • Never leave children unattended.
  • Use the cart only according to manufacturer's instructions.
  • Do not exceed weight, height, or passenger limits (max 2 children).
  • Secure children with the safety harness and ensure they are correctly seated.
  • Always use the safety strap when using as a stroller or jogger.
  • Ensure good ventilation, especially with rain cover (rear air flap open).
  • The LED light must always be used when the cart is a bicycle trailer.
  • Children under 1 year should not be transported in the bike trailer.
  • Children in the bike trailer must wear a CPSC or CE approved bicycle helmet and have strong enough neck muscles to hold their head upright.
  • The seat must be in the upright position when used as a bicycle trailer or at speeds over normal walking speed.
  • Ensure all locking pins, bolts, and attachments are securely fastened before use.
  • Be aware that riding with a bicycle trailer significantly changes acceleration, braking, and turning dynamics. Practice without children first.
  • Do not use straps for skis/ski poles with wheels.
