Cold Climate Installation Considerations
16
2. e-Series units have a 120v power feed in addition to their primary 3
phase power feed. The 120v feed is intended to be connected to a power
source with a generator or battery backup. See Table 2 for electrical
specifications. Backup electrical support is important to protect the unit
in case of power failure on the main circuit, unless the main circuit is itself
backed up by a generator. For installations that do not require backup
power, the unified power package accessory can condense incoming
power to a single point electrical feed.
3. Water pipes in exterior space should pitch down toward the e-Series pipe
entry points, so if a manual drain down is necessary, all exterior piping can
drain to the dump valve within the heat pump.
4. Condensate pipes must pitch down to a freeze protected drain point or
to conditioned space for vents or condensate pumps for further handling.
Do not install vents or condensate pumps outside.
5. If filling the system in cold weather, ensure the 120v power circuit is active
BEFORE filling the circuit. See Pre-Startup and Startup procedures in this
manual for more information.
