Installation: Configuration
Setting configuration options for the heat pump will require active
120v power, or main power if the unified power package is installed.
While activating the 120v power for programming is safe, turning
compressor operation “on” at this stage is not. Complete the Pre-
Startup Checklist before pressing the “on” button in the control
interface! Operating the heat pump compressor before all checks
have been performed can result in severe equipment damage or major
component failure.
This manual addresses configuration of individual heat pump water heaters. For
projects with centralized controllers connected to multiple heat pumps, or BMS
control systems, be sure to refer to additional instructions for the configuration of
those accessories.
Heat Pump Controller Screens:
Your heat pump comes with a full color touchscreen mounted on the front of the
cabinet, under a weatherproof enclosure. Whenever 120v power is available, the
controller will be active. There are 4 primary screens that may be used during
installation and typical operation.
Monitor Screen: This is the default display screen, and features a variety of
indicators related to the current operation of the unit, but does not provide for
any configuration options.
Configure Screen: This screen requires installation of a service jumper
between terminals 24v and i7 to allow access. All standard configurable
parameters are available in this screen, including operating mode, target
setpoints, and others.
Diagnose Screen: This screen requires installation of a service jumper
between terminals 24v and i7 to allow access. Operating information specific
to troubleshooting and diagnostics are available here, as well as selected
diagnostic and/or commissioning tools.
Alarms Screen: This screen is always accessible, and shows all available
alarms, their current status, and provides access to the error history.
Following is guidance for the setup and configuration of the heat pump water
heater for its standard modes of operation.
