Troubleshooting Setup Failure via USB
Symptom Resolution
Cannot setup in Windows 95/NT.40 USB connection is available for
Windows Me/98/2000/XP/Server
2003 only.
Windows Me/98 upgraded from
Windows 95/3.1 is used.
No guarantee of proper operation.
Use a computer with a clean
installation of Windows Me/98.
The computer does not support
USB interface.
Confirm that USB controller is
shown in the device manager.
Interface is set to DISABLE. B4500/4550/4600: Set to ENABLE
in the printer menu. See “USB
menu” on page 41.
B4400: Open the Status Monitor.
On the Printer Setup Tab, click the
Open Configuration button. Click
USB Menu, USB Enable.
The USB cable is disconnected. Connect the USB cable.
A USB hub is used. Connect the printer directly to the
computer.
