Inspection of the mouthpiece (MA-651, optional)
Do not use a mouthpiece that is damaged, deformed, or
reveals other irregularities. Doing so may cause patient injury
and/or equipment damage.
Place the mouthpiece in the patient’s mouth before the
procedure to prevent the patient from biting and/or damaging
the endoscope’s insertion section.
1. Confirm that the mouthpiece is free from cracks, deformation, or
discoloration (see Figure 3.9).
2. Using your fingers, check irregularities on the surfaces of the mouthpiece
(see Figure 3.9).
