Chapter 3 Preparation and Inspection
ULTRASONIC BRONCHOFIBERVIDEOSCOPE BF-UC180F
3.7 Preparation and inspection of the balloon
Balloons used with this instrument contain natural rubber
latex that may cause allergic reactions in some individuals.
Do not use the balloon on a latex-sensitive patient.
The balloons are disposable and are intended for a
single-use only. A new balloon must be used for each patient.
Do not attempt to reuse or sterilize a balloon.
This could pose an infection-control risk or cause equipment
damage.
Confirm that the balloon applicator has been properly
reprocessed as described in Chapters 5, “Reprocessing:
General Policy” through 7, “Cleaning, Disinfection, and
Sterilization Procedures”.
If you find a peel pack that is open, damaged, or soiled, do
not use the balloon in that pack.
The balloon can tear easily, beware of sharp objects.
Store the balloon in a cool environment with low humidity.
After opening the laminate package, reseal it securely. If the
laminate package remains open, the quality of the balloon
will gradually deteriorate by oxidation.
Attaching the balloon
1.
Prepare the balloon and the balloon applicator.
2. Inspect the balloon and confirm that it has no holes, swelling, color changes,
or any other irregularities. If any irregularity is detected, do not use the
balloon; use a spare instead, inspecting it thoroughly before use.
